Phin's is simply put, a steakhouse that the younger crowd would take to. The old school image of steakhouses is high-brow, exorbitant prices, dimmed atmosphere and rather daunting to approach. Phin's in contrast emphasizes an open door fronting with a more casual atmosphere. The idea is to make the look and feel of the place approachable and keep the food quality high and prices affordable to a larger market.
The signature dish is the steak. Phin's offers chilled air-flown NZ beef (sirloin, ribeye or tenderloin) in 3 sizes (Petite- 180gm, Standard - 230gm & Generous - 300gm). Variety of sauces to accompany wild mushroom (favorite among die hard fans), traditional black pepper, garlic, sambal (another signature - made up of 20+ fresh ingredients) etc, and we do not charge customers' request of wanting more of our delicious sauces!!
Be Warned!!! - If you choose sambal to be serve on a sizzling plate with your steak, be prepared to attract stares and curses from your fellow diners!!!
The Petite cut of a steak in a typical restaurant is 180gm (6oz), and that will be the smallest cut that Phin's serve. We find that a lot of times consumers have different appetite and that is often not match. For example man are always turn off by the small serving that standard steakhouses serve, thus at Phin's they have a choice of 230gm(8 oz) or 300 gm (10oz). Another point to note is the affordability issue we sell the smallest cut Sirloin at only $9.90!! (Chill Air-flown Beef no gimmicks!)
The Fish n Chips is also another favourite among customers. Both the Beer Batter as well as the original house style fish n chips are very popular. The beer batter is specially made and remains crisp on the outside with only a hint of beer flavours and firm, fresh, n tasty dory fillets on the inside. We use Pacific Dory Fillets which are of the premium white variety and this can sometimes costs twice as much as the common variety. Please also do try our Baby Back Ribs and Pork Rack if you want a change, we guarantee the meat is succulent to the bone!!
